Adam Maier Featured in Attorney at Law Magazine "Next Generation" Issue
Minneapolis partner Adam Maier is featured in the "2017 Next Generation" section of the Minnesota edition of Attorney at Law magazine. The section profiles a group of attorneys who are shaping the legal community and the future of law firms. With new practices, big cases, moves and expansions, these attorneys will make a real impact on the practice of law in Minnesota.
In the profile, Adam talks about how he grew into his practice advising financial institutions on a broad range of business, strategic and regulatory matters, including buying and selling banks and branches, de novo charters, forming holding companies, raising capital and reorganizations. He also shares some of the most challenging and satisfying matters he's worked on. For example, Adam recently helped a client purchase a bank out of bankruptcy, the first and only Bankruptcy Code § 363 bank acquisition in Minnesota history.
Adam is the co-chair of the firm's banking and financial services division. He says he learned a lot form the clients and attorneys who mentored him as a younger associate.
"The lawyers here took an interest in teaching me how to be a good, all-around, business-oriented attorney,” he said. “Some taught me the nuts and bolts of banking transactions. Others taught me mergers and acquisitions. Some taught me how to build relationships and how to position myself as an industry-focused attorney. I was lucky that I got to work with senior attorneys and partners who also let me grow my own practice so I could become a partner. Without their assistance, I couldn’t have gotten to that point.”
