Kelly Daly, Dan Wennogle to Speak on New FAA Regulations, Utility Easements at Upcoming Drone Conference
Kelly Daly and Dan Wennogle will be featured speakers at Kinetic's Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) for Utilities seminar Sept. 15, 2016 at the Kansas City headquarters of Burns and McDonnell, 9450 Ward Parkway, Kansas City, MO 64114.
This conference provides a comprehensive overview of the issues electric and gas utilities need to know when evaluating the why and how of developing a drone program. Discussion includes relevant policy and regulations, utility experience with building use cases for UAS and important considerations when deciding how to structure a drone program.
Kelly will speak at 9 a.m. on new FAA regulations governing the use of drones. Her talk will focus on the new regulations for small, commercial drone use in agriculture, research and development, educational and academic use, and powerline, pipeline and antenna inspections. This presentation will cover these new regulations along with uses and mis-uses of the regulations for drones.
Dan will speak at 12:45 p.m. on drones and utility easements. His presentation will explore several of the legal issues that utility companies might face if they want to use drone technology in low airspace over private property or wildlife areas. Drones can carry thousands of dollars of sensitive equipment and companies cannot risk having a drone shot down by an angry landowner or having operations shut down by a lawsuit or regulatory action.
Kelly is a partner in the firm's Washington, DC office. She represents entities with interests in unmanned aircraft systems before the Federal Aviation Administration and parties involved in complex business and professional liability litigation before the state and federal courts.
Dan is a litigator in the firm's Denver office. He focuses on construction, property rights, oil and gas pipelines, unmanned aircraft systems, utility companies and professional liability.
