Jonathan Schneider Will Present at the Energy Bar Association Primer
Jonathan Schneider will be a featured speaker at the 2016 Energy Bar Association Primer: "Electricity and Electric Rate Regulation - An Introduction." The event is April 4 and 5, 2016 at the Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP Embarcadero Center in San Francisco.
Jonathan will present on two topics: "The Role of Non-Jurisdictional Entities in the Regulatory Scheme" and "FERC Oversight of Market Manipulation."
The primer provides attendees with an overview of electric regulation at the federal and state levels. The course begins with a brief overview of how electricity is generated, transmitted, and delivered to customers, and covers key legal milestones in electric regulation since commercial electric service began in the 1870s. In addition, the course will also cover alternative regulatory regimes, development of competitive wholesale and retail electric markets, enforcement of the prohibition against market manipulation, the role of Regional Transmission Organizations, and the reliability regime administered by the North American Electric Reliability Corporation.
Jonathan is a partner in the firm's Washington, DC office. He helps clients on a wide range of energy issues, from restructuring in the electric and gas industries to rate regulation. He has experience as both a litigator and providing transactional assistance on regulated issues. He is a past member of the board of directors of the Energy Bar Association.
