Joel Abrahamson and Matthew Tews to Present at 2015 Minnesota SHRM State Conference
Joel Abrahamson and Matthew Tews will present "Positive Employee Relations Strategies for Employers with an Overview of Recent NLRB Actions," at the 2015 Minnesota SHRM State Conference. The conference is October 11-13, 2015 at the Mayo Civic Center, Rochester, Minnesota.
Joel and Matt will provide attendees with important strategies for developing and maintaining positive employee relations in light of drastic changes to the NLRB’s (National Labor Relations Board) interpretation of the union election process. The changes affect all employers, regardless of union or non-union status. Employers and their human resources teams must be prepared for the significant impact of the new rules, and they must take informed action to ensure their workforce is not susceptible to union organizing efforts. Joel and Matt will also provide an overview of the recent rule changes, NLRB decisions and policy affecting employee relations.
Joel is an experienced litigator representing businesses in employment law and traditional labor law matters. He has successfully defended clients in court and before government agencies across the Upper Midwest in employment lawsuits and charges based on alleged discrimination, retaliation, disability accommodation failure, breach of contract, defamation, promissory estoppel, and other statutory and common law claims.
Matt helps both large and small employers, including those in heavily regulated industries, effectively confront complex employment and traditional labor law issues. As an employment litigator, Matt protects employers' rights when confronted with claims such as those brought under the ADA, FMLA, Title VII, NLRA, Minnesota Human Rights Act, federal and state whistleblower acts, wage and hour laws, as well as retaliation, discrimination and wrongful termination claims.
