Harvey Reiter, Dominic Cecere, Darrell Clark and Tracey Ohm to Present at APPA's Legal & Regulatory Conference
Stinson Leonard Street attorneys Harvey Reiter, Dominic Cecere, Darrell Clark and Tracey Ohm will present at the American Public Power Association's Legal & Regulatory Conference Oct. 8-11, 2017 in New Orleans.
The conference is an educational and professional development opportunity specifically designed for attorney, regulatory affairs specialists, and compliance officers to learn about current legal and regulatory issues affecting public power, as well as the practical legal issues facing municipal utilities.
At 11 a.m. Oct. 9 Harvey will participate in the "Public Power Participation in Western Markets" breakout discussion.
This panel will review market developments in the west, including Platte River's participation a joint dispatch agreement with several IOUs, public power participation in a possible Mountain West organized market, and the decisions by the BANC, Seattle City Light and Salt River Power Project to participate in the energy imbalance market run by CAISO.
At 3:30 p.m. Dom will present the "Labor Law Developments Under the Trump Administration" breakout session. Dom's talk will provide insight from tax and bond counsel on current regulatory and legislative developments affecting public power utilities. He will also explore recent and proposed regulatory changes affecting tax- exempt and other tax-advantaged bond issues, and get an update on current legislative activity.
At 9:45 a.m. Oct. 10 Darrell and Tracey will participate in the "Protecting your Enterprise from Vendor Bankruptcies" panel discussion. This session will explore some basic bankruptcy concepts; discuss how those concepts affect APPA members; and offer some suggestions and techniques for protecting public power utilities.
