Clary Redd to Speak on Family Business Succession at Heckerling Institute on Estate Planning
Clary Redd will be a featured speaker at the 51st Annual Heckerling Institute on Estate Planning Jan. 9-13, 2017 at the University of Miami Law School in Coral Gables, Florida.
Clary's presentation is at 3:20 p.m. Jan. 12 and is entitled "Nothing Succeeds Like Successful Succession."
The discussion on transferring a family-owned business from one generation to the next will review successful strategies to minimize taxes and pay for those that remain, encourage orderly leadership changes, compensate owners and non-owners, and take steps to position a business for future success. Among the non-tax topics discussed will be incentivizing outside managers, limiting conflicts over business perks and dividend payments.
Clary is a partner in the firm's St. Louis office. His practice is focused on estate planning, estate and trust administration and estate and trust-related litigation. He is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel and Co-Chair of Trusts & Estates magazine's Editorial Advisory Board.
