2015 Electric Reliability Compliance Workshop
NERC and the electric industry are moving toward risk-based and increasingly sophisticated approaches to reliability compliance management. Through its Reliability Assurance Initiative, NERC and the Regional Entities are working to gear compliance oversight and enforcement towards a more holistic review of compliance processes and internal controls. This occurs in an environment in which the electric industry's evaluation of risk is ever-changing, as cyber and physical security concerns overtake the public discussion.
Join industry experts, NERC and FERC Senior Staff on Thursday, January 15, 2015, for this one-day electric industry workshop, hosted by Stinson Leonard Street. The workshop will focus on effective compliance programs, developing methods for internal controls, enforcement and managing cyber and physical risks.
The day will open with a panel featuring NERC's Senior Staff, followed by a discussion led by industry trade association leaders. The conversation will continue with a focus on standards development reform and industry best practices. The full-day workshop will include:
- Key presentations by:
- Sonia Mendonca, Assistant General Counsel and Director of Enforcement, NERC
- Ted Franks, Deputy Director, FERC Office of Reliability
- Feedback through a roundtable discussion facilitated by leaders from key industry trade associations: EEI, APPA, EPSA, ELCON and LPPC
- A workshop on industry best practices facilitated by leaders from NextEra Energy, New York Power Authority, and Sacramento Municipal Utility District.
Don't miss the pre-conference reception on Wednesday, January 14, 2015, from 5:30 -7:30 p.m. Conference speakers and attendees will have an opportunity to network with industry professionals at a cocktail reception hosted by Stinson Leonard Street at the St. Regis in the Astor Pavilion & Salon.
