Mark serves as general counsel to Stinson, where he focuses on ethics and professional responsibility, topics about which he frequently speaks and writes.
Overview
Mark is a seasoned trial lawyer, having represented financial institutions, corporate fiduciaries and other organizations in a range of complex commercial litigation, including consumer class action, trust and other fiduciary litigation, trademark infringement and other business disputes in state and federal courts and in arbitration.
Mark spent five years prior to law school as a senior underwriter and credit analyst at two financial institutions, giving him a unique perspective into the inner workings of his financial industry clients. Benchmark Litigation named him a “Future Star.”
Experience
Mark defended a national bank serving as corporate fiduciary that was sued by remainder beneficiaries, obtaining a favorable judgment, preserved on appeal, and attorneys’ fees.
His trademark infringement cases include work for an international church and a national restaurant chain, resulting in permanent injunctive relief and attorneys’ fees, and favorable out-of-court settlements, respectively.
Mark represented a major telecommunications carrier and leading computer manufacturer in putative and certified nationwide consumer class actions.
His clients in arbitration include banks, telecommunications companies, consumer products companies, a state health plan and securities brokerage firms.
Mark’s community service work has included serving on the board of directors and the advisory board of The Family Conservancy, which provides a range of services and is one of the oldest nonprofits supporting the Kansas City community.
