Partner Roy Goldberg was quoted in a recent article by Law360 on a recent push for federal regulations to airline safety procedures in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, including requiring all passengers to wear face masks on flights.

"The airline industry is working extremely hard to ensure that airline travel is both safe and perceived as safe, and the universal wearing of masks on flights and at airports is an important part of that endeavor, along with a litany of other steps undertaken by airlines and airports to protect passengers and crew members," Roy said. "It is like the wearing of a seat belt on an airplane during certain portions of the flight. It protects both the passenger and those around the passenger, and is a matter of federal law rather than state or local requirements."

He went on to discuss the value in creating federal guidelines through the Department of Transportation, as opposed to the sometimes conflicting pandemic information from various states, territories and local governments.

Roy is a trial, appellate and regulatory attorney and transportation lawyer who represents corporations, partnerships, airlines, airports, trade associations, aircraft owners, airport vendors, developers and other aviation and transportation entities on a wide range of commercial and regulatory litigation matters. Additionally, he provides advice and counseling to airlines, airports and other aviation industry entities.
