Title:Systems Analyst
Office:Kansas City
Description:

Stinson Morrison Hecker LLP is seeking a Systems Analyst to join our Technology department within our Kansas City office.  This is a full-time position (Monday-Friday).  This position will report to the Enterprise Applications and Desktop Support Manager.  EOE

Position Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of experience in application support, development and networking.
  • Strong background in business analysis, technical support, database administration and MS SQL.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Assists in the support of the internal business application software of the Firm (including Workflow, Accounting, Time and Billing, Cost Recovery, DMS, SharePoint, Records Management, Desktop Image Management, etc.)Support responsibilities include diagnosis and resolution of problems, performing regular maintenance and vendor supplied updates, developing customizations and reports, and interfacing to other business systems.  These applications may include (but not limited to):  Microsoft SQL Server, Whitehill, Elite, ADP, Interwoven, FileSurf, nQueue and Altiris.  Obtains assignments from the Enterprise Applications Manager.
  • Exhibits the sustained ability and capability to plan, organize and implement enterprise applications projects without extensive guidance from Manager.  May be expected to organize and direct internal and/or external meetings related to projects for which he/she has responsibility.
  • Acts as member of team conducting Tier 3 support for business application related issues.  Using standardized support procedures, ensures that issues escalated from others are resolved within established service levels and at a standard level of quality.  Utilizes the Firm's problem tracking system to monitor and track support efforts.
  • Coordinates with outside vendors as necessary to resolve support issues and implement product installations or enhancements.
  • Prepares detailed documentation on the setup, configuration and maintenance of any applications for which he/she has been assigned responsibility.  May be expected to work with the Enterprise Applications Manager to review documentation prepared by other team members and provide guidance or assistance on improvements to documentation.
  • Evaluates business requirements for relevant applications supporting the internal needs of the Firm.  Interfaces with and coordinates project efforts between Technology Department personnel, other internal departments and external resources.
  • Works with Enterprise Applications Manager in developing status reports, ad hoc projects and budget development.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Title:Technology Education Specialist

The Technology Education Specialist designs, develops and delivers training programs that enhance the productivity of the firm’s employees through technology.  The Technology Education Specialist assists with testing, documentation, and implementation of new products to be utilized by the firm.  The Technology Education Specialist also develops skills, knowledge and abilities through attendance at professional development programs and the use of products designed to further the firm's education program.

Position Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years training experience.
  • Solid understanding of Microsoft Windows XP, Office 2003 and document management systems.  Knowledge of Office 2007 a plus.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Strong technical writing skills, with the ability to write clear and accurate software documentation.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously while meeting deadlines and quality standards.
  • Must be able to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly and thoroughly without formal instruction.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
 
Position Responsibilities:
 
  • Conduct classroom and web-based training for attorneys and support staff on technology products used by the firm.
  • Provide personal technology consultation services to attorneys.
  • Perform periodic training needs assessments.
  • Design and maintain new employee orientation and continuing education programs tailored to job function.
  • Develop training curriculum and documentation according to guidelines established by Technology Education.
  • Work within the team to identify and measure performance of training programs and provide recommendations for improvement, as needed.
  • Work with management to develop and promote Firm-wide best practices on the use of technology.
  • Develop eLearning content through use of multimedia, video, audio and authoring software.
  • Coordinate training schedules and maintain class attendance database.
  • Maintain training rooms and equipment.
  • Provide second-tier support for help desk escalations on more complex application issues.
  • Participation and evaluation of current application upgrades and technology for future implementation.
  • Assist with project roll-outs.
  • Promote training opportunities firm-wide.
  • Develop a good rapport with attorneys and support staff.
  • Periodically work with other technology departments within the firm, and legal staff to develop a working knowledge of legal concepts and team practices.
  • Other duties as assigned.
 
Work Environment:
 
  • Primary work location is the Kansas City office, providing training and support remotely to the other SMH offices.
  • Work hours are 8:30 am to 5:30 pm.
  • Travel may be required periodically to other SMH offices for hardware/software upgrades and deployment.
