Tim is the chairman of the Intellectual Property & Technology Division and head of the Technology, Outsourcing and e-Commerce Group. He has been advising technology-based businesses for more than 20 years. His practice has an emphasis in the areas of software, technology, intellectual property law, business law, outsourcing and e-commerce and includes counseling clients and negotiating a broad range of business relationships in these areas. Tim is a frequent speaker and author on these topics as well.

Representative Experience

Negotiation and documentation of agreements in the areas of software and technology development, transfer, licensing and escrow, e-commerce, copyright, trademark and trade secrets, as well as technology outsourcing agreements, vendor management agreements, master licensing, consulting, and service agreements, joint venture and teaming agreements.
Recent Internet related experience includes disputes relating to conflicts between trademark rights and Internet domain names, software development agreements, the development of interactive Internet sites to create binding sales and financing agreements, as well as the general negotiation of website development and hosting agreements.
Wide range of general business trial experience that includes cases involving software development and licensing agreements, copyright, trademark and trade dress infringement and domain name disputes.

Tim was one of the founding members and officers of the Intellectual Property Law Section of the Kansas Bar Association, and he currently serves as its immediate past president. He was also one of the founders of the e-Biz Update (e-BizUpdate.com), a periodic e-mail resource and website devoted to providing current information on developments affecting business in the areas of electronic commerce, the Internet, intellectual property, technology, licensing and outsourcing.
