The article examines how companies are tasked with implementing effective compliance programs without specific requirements from the DOJ. Berland outlines what steps companies must take to ensure their Foreign Corrupt Practices Act compliance program is deemed effective.
Berland is co-leader of Stinson's Governance, Risk & Compliance practice in Kansas City. He is a former chief compliance officer for BearingPoint and has extensive hands-on experience in building practical and effective legal compliance programs for multinational businesses.
