If You Fall Off Your Horse…Get Back On An experienced attorney, rancher and horseback rider, Lynn Preheim doesn’t shy away from challenging situations. Like many cowboys, his word is his bond. It’s a story still told through the halls of Stinson Morrison Hecker. The day Preheim attended a client meeting with the Kansas Attorney General and the CEO of a major retail corporation with a severely broken leg. That morning, Preheim was guiding his horse through the icy outskirts of Wichita, Kan., on a search for a cow that escaped from a friend’s pasture. Lynn grew up on a farm outside of Wichita, so this task wasn’t out of the ordinary—in fact, he had done it many times before. After successfully finding and roping the cow, Preheim started to head back, when his horse slipped on the ice. The horse’s body fell directly on his leg, leaving it broken and his face bruised and scratched. All this didn’t stop Preheim from attending his meeting with the CEO, who was already on a plane headed for Wichita. Instead, he waited until 7 p.m. that night to see a doctor about his leg. “That meeting was too important to miss. So I walked into the office trying to carry my briefcases, but they knew I had a story to tell; I had a scratched up face and broken leg. They couldn’t believe the story, and I still get calls and emails teasing me about that day,” Preheim said. Whether he’s enjoying his hobbies of ranching and hunting, traveling to Dubai to learn first-hand about his client’s falcon-breeding business, or serving as a community volunteer, you know Preheim will give his best effort. Clients value his honesty and dependability, and his wife and three kids appreciate his devotion and sense of humor. Preheim's legacy is already stamped in the firm’s books. When he fell off his horse that cold winter day, he didn’t just get back on—he demonstrated an unmatched toughness, a commitment to his word, and to his client.
