The Government Contracts Group interprets and applies state and federal rules, regulations and case law on all issues relating to contracting with local, state and federal agencies.
Practice Overview We work on all types of government contracts and have experience with many federal and state agencies. We consult on the formation and administration of government contracts, including advising on compliance with applicable laws and regulations, evaluating and prosecuting claims, and resolving disputes. In addition, our knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulations and understanding of the case law relating to a variety of pre-award and post-award disputes and activities is central to our ability to assist our clients.We are able to represent government contractors as well as government agencies in all aspects of government contract law. We have worked on contracts involving numerous federal government agencies and many state and local governments throughout the United States. Scope of Service We are experienced in the government contract field as a whole and do not focus on only one area of government contracts. We can provide the following services: Provide daily consultations on a variety of pending issues related to ongoing and future contracts Review contract solicitations and contract bids/proposals for suggestions on improving chances of success Draft and negotiate teaming agreements and joint venture agreements Analyze accounting procedures to ensure compliance with the DCAA Audit Manual Negotiate changes in contracts Address subcontractor issues and disputes Prosecute and defend bid protests and pursue claims resolution Provide guidance on small business, minority-owned business, and woman-owned business issues Litigate disputes with federal or state governmental agencies in a variety of forums including Boards of Contract Appeals, Office of Hearings and Appeals, GAO, Court of Federal Claims and various district courts Pursue DOL proceedings for violations of Service Contract Act Pursue SIC and NAICS Code Appeals Advise clients on issues arising from the Support Anti-Terrorism by Fostering Effective Technologies Act of 2002 (Safety Act) Prosecute and defend Qui Tam actions Collect government contract receivables Prepare Affirmative Action Plans and defend contractors in OFCCP audits Of Note Government contracts often involve other areas of the law, and in order to meet the diverse needs of our clients, we closely collaborate with several of the firm's other divisions. These include Employment and Labor, Bankruptcy and Creditors' Rights, Business Litigation, Real Estate and Intellectual Property and Technology. By drawing on the requisite proficiency of our attorneys in these areas, we are effectively able to serve our clients.
