Stinson Morrison Hecker LLP has elected five new partners effective January 1, 2012. The selected attorneys practice in the firm's Kansas City, Jefferson City and St. Louis, Mo., offices and include:
Robin K. Carlson is a member of the firm's business litigation division. She focuses her practice on commercial and class action litigation. She has represented clients in various areas, including accounting firms and national banks. Carlson was named a 2011 Rising Star by Super Lawyers, Law & Politics, which recognizes top up-and-coming, young attorneys in the state. Prior to joining Stinson, Robin served as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Kathryn H. Vratil, of the United States District Court for the District of Kansas. For 11 years, Robin served as a school psychologist for the Topeka Public School System. Carlson earned a J.D. from Washburn University in 2004. She received her Ed.S. in School Psychology in 1990 and M.S. in Psychology in 1989 from Pittsburg State University. She also earned her B.A. in Psychology from Hastings College in 1987. Angela G. Nichols is a member of the firm's business litigation division. She has experience in commercial litigation matters in both federal and state courts. Her primary focus is on trusts and estates litigation, including maintaining actions to construe and reform trusts and defending corporate fiduciaries against claims of fraud, negligence and breach of fiduciary duty. She also has experience in cases involving a variety of other areas of litigation including construction, aviation, contract and real estate. As part of that experience, Nichols has assisted in the defense of aircraft manufacturers in both contract and products liability litigation. Nichols earned a J.D. from the University of Iowa in 2004 and a B.S. in Political Science from Wayne State College in 2001.
Jeremy A. Root is a member of the firm's business litigation division and whistleblower & investigative response team. He currently spends the majority of his time representing clients involved in complex commercial disputes, energy litigation, internal investigations and e-discovery. He has been involved in a wide range of commercial litigation matters and has knowledge litigating contract disputes, prevailing wage disputes, initiative petitions, commercial fraud cases, and professional licensing cases. Prior to joining the firm as an associate in 2008, Root was a law clerk for the Honorable Laura Denvir Stith of the Supreme Court of Missouri. He earned his J.D. from New York University in 2002 and his B.A. in American Cultural Studies from Bates College in 1997.
Michelle L. Corrigan is a member of the firm's business litigation division. She focuses her practice on product liability litigation. Her experience includes the representation of medical device manufacturers and distributors, industrial equipment manufacturers and distributors, residential product manufacturers and distributors, and premises owners. She has successfully defended several of her clients at trial in various courts. Michelle is licensed in all Louisiana state courts and all Missouri state and federal courts. She received her J.D. from Loyola University in 1997 and her B.S. in Management and Marketing from Canisius College in 1994.
Nicole S. Zellweger is a member of the firm's business litigation division, where she concentrates her practice in civil and commercial litigation. Nicole has specialized in franchise and distribution law, representing both franchisors and franchisees in various disputes between each other and also third parties, including pre and post-termination obligations. Recently, Zellweger was honored with the American Bar Association Forum on Franchising Chair's Future Leader Award for her hard work and dedication to the Forum in 2011. Zellweger earned her J.D. from Washington University in 2004 and her M.A. from Yale University in 2001. She received her A.B. from the University of Georgia in 1999.
