KCMBA Honors Shaiken with 2012 President's Award

Stinson Morrison Hecker LLP Partner Mark Shaiken will be presented with the 2012 President’s Award from the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association (KCMBA). The annual award goes to those individuals who have contributed significantly to the bar, have added value to the organization, and provided leadership during the past year.

Shaiken, a partner in the firm's Bankruptcy & Creditors' Right Division, finds his creative outlet as a gifted photographer. He has lent his talents to KCMBA, shooting many of the cover photos for the KC Counselor, the official magazine of the bar association. Along with having his photographs featured on the magazine, promotional materials and bar directory, he has also photographed many of the events for the bar association.

Stinson salutes Mark for giving of his time, talent and photography to KCMBA. Mark exemplifies the standard of excellence to which our firm adheres.

Shaiken's law practice focuses on all facets of bankruptcy, insolvency and reorganization matters, as well as creditors' rights, including workouts, real estate foreclosures and related litigation, personal property replevins, Reg B, collections, and lender liability defense. He taught Advanced Bankruptcy Law at the University of Kansas for 14 years, and was named a 2012 Lawyer of the Year by Best Lawyers for bankruptcy and creditor-debtor rights and insolvency and reorganization. He graduated from Washburn University Law School in 1981, clerked for James A. Pusateri, United States Bankruptcy Judge for the District of Kansas and has handled bankruptcy cases and litigated issues in over 20 different jurisdictions (state and federal) and bankruptcy courts. KCMBA will present the award to Shaiken on Friday, December 7 during the bar's annual meeting.
