Stinson Morrison Hecker LLP has announced Mark Hinderks will assume the role of managing partner of the firm on July 1, 2010. Hinderks began serving as deputy managing partner in 2008 in preparation for his transition to managing partner.
“Mark has played a key role in the management team over the past two years, and he has the complete respect and admiration of his peers," said Mark Foster, outgoing managing partner. "He has proven both his practice and leadership abilities and has the energy and vision to guide the firm, so he is well positioned to assume the full responsibilities of managing partner. I personally look forward to watching Mark in this leadership role.”
Hinderks is a proven advocate and successful attorney with nearly 30 years of legal experience. His practice primarily focuses on substantial business and public law litigation and arbitrations, including business purchase/sale cases, business and consumer class actions, patents and other intellectual property, securities litigation, industrial accidents and business contract disputes. He has also represented clients in substantial construction disputes concerning business, residential, industrial and public works projects.
Beyond his depth of experience as a practicing attorney, Hinderks is recognized as a proven leader within the firm. During his 25-year tenure with Stinson, he has served as the firm’s co-general counsel and as managing partner of the Overland Park, Kan., office.
“I look forward to using the lessons I've learned about advocacy and judgment to help us provide even better service to all of our clients,” Hinderks said. “I look at this as a natural progression of my career. I also appreciate the opportunity to work with Mark Foster in this role. He has served as and continues to be a very credible and effective leader.”
After 15 years, Foster is stepping down as managing partner to focus on his litigation and arbitration practice. With the experience Foster gained during his tenure as managing partner, he will help lead Stinson’s efforts to identify, explore and accomplish growth opportunities, both in existing and new markets. Additionally, Foster will lead proactive efforts to expand the firm’s client-service initiatives.
Hinderks is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers. He also is a frequent speaker and author on trial practice and attorney professional responsibility, and co-founder of “Ethics for Good,” a benefit series of ethics presentations that has raised $250,000 for local charities. He received his J.D. from the University of Kansas in 1982 and his bachelor’s degree with distinction also from the University of Kansas in 1979.
