Stinson Morrison Hecker invites you to join us for a timely and informative webinar on Tuesday, April 26. The webinar will feature panels focusing on two of the most pressing issues regarding the deployment of the smart grid - customer privacy and cost allocation and recovery.
Utilities, regulators and policymakers are struggling with the fact that the smart grid will generate and permit worldwide access to an unprecedented amount of personal data which could enable significant invasions of privacy. Our first panel will explore the nature of the threat and discuss the privacy and security policies which should be in place.
These same parties are also struggling with the question of how to allocate and recover the tremendous costs that will be incurred by utilities in deploying smart grid technologies. Different jurisdictions have taken different approaches. Our second panel will discuss a myriad of cost allocation and recovery issues from the perspectives of the states, the utilities and the consumer advocates.
The panel on privacy issues will be led by Russell Frisby, former Chairman of the Maryland Public Service Commission and now a partner at Stinson Morrison Hecker, and Lillie Coney, Associate Director of the Electronic Privacy Information Center (EPIC). Both have been involved extensively in resolution of smart grid privacy issues.
The second panel will discuss smart grid cost allocation and recovery. This panel is comprised of Stinson Morrison Hecker partner Adrienne Clair, who has litigated issues regarding utility recovery of smart grid costs, and Brad Ramsay, General Counsel of the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners.
