Recognizing the importance of preserving the earth's resources, Stinson Morrison Hecker created a green committee to promote sustainable business practices throughout its eight offices and their communities. The committee, made up of attorneys and staff members from each office, meets monthly and has implemented a variety of green practices firmwide.
Stinson Morrison Hecker LLP is committed to significantly reducing our greenhouse gas emissions and protecting the environment. By targeting for attention the categories of transportation, energy use, materials purchasing, and waste generation, we will contribute to – and inspire others to promote – a healthier environment for everyone.
Stinson Morrison Hecker LLP’s green initiative began in 2007 when we became a founding member of the Greater Kansas City Climate Protection Partnership. The partnership was modeled after the Seattle Climate Partnership, a well-recognized leader in climate protection initiatives. Through the partnership, our firm and many of our clients were afforded the opportunity to work together toward various goals that will reduce greenhouse gas emissions and protect the environment in our offices and homes. Our firm’s commitment extends to each of our eight offices: Kansas City, St. Louis, Jefferson City, Mo., Overland Park and Wichita, Kan., Omaha, Neb., Washington D.C., and Phoenix. This commitment also extends to our homes and the communities in which we live.
The following initiatives have been employed in all or some of Stinson’s offices:
In addition to our internal initiatives, three Stinson attorneys have earned LEED accreditation in order to better serve our clients in the real estate and construction sectors. For more information on how our LEED accredited professionals are making a difference, please see the Real Estate or Construction practice descriptions.
We're proud to be a winner in the Mid-America Regional Council's 2009 Green Commute Challenge. The firm, which received the highest total points for medium organizations, had 45 participants from its Kansas City and Corporate Woods' offices logging their daily commute during an eight-week period.
