Emmett has specialized in the areas of director and officer liability, securities fraud, corporate governance and business tort litigation involving both defendant and plaintiff classes. He has litigated securities actions arising out of failed businesses; the issuance of municipal bonds; the regulatory blockage of what was then regarded as the largest corporate merger in history; temporary drops in stock price; and allegations of misrepresentation concerning financial condition. Since 1995, he has been lead counsel for Sprint in multiple putative nationwide and statewide class actions in which plaintiffs allege that they are entitled to compensation as owners of an interest in railroad right-of-ways on which Sprint's fiber optic cable was installed.In addition to these areas of practice, he has tried lawsuits involving product liability, FELA, lender liability, medical malpractice, aviation disaster and post-traumatic stress disorder.
