David is a registered patent attorney in the firm's Intellectual Property & Technology Division. His entire 38-year legal career has been spent specializing in intellectual property law, including all phases of patent, trademark, copyright and trade secret matters.

While serving a widely divergent group of clients in areas ranging from complex mechanical subject matter to biotechnology, he has obtained hundreds of patents for both individuals and corporations. He also has extensive experience in the areas of chemical processing, chemical compositions, complex mechanical devices and veterinary pharmaceuticals. For the past 15 years, David has specialized in intellectual property litigation and has tried several major patent infringement suits in federal court representing both plaintiffs and defendants. He also has experience in litigating trademark and copyright cases in both federal and state courts

Representative Experience

Represents one of the largest privately-owned corporations in the world in all phases of intellectual property law
Obtained a 70 million dollar judgment for patent infringement and theft of trade secrets in federal courts
Provided representation of a multi-billion dollar publicly owned company in several patent infringement suits
Successful trial of a number of trademark infringement cases in state and federal court resulting in both preliminary and permanent injunctions
Represents three national franchises with regard to intellectual property issues

Of Note

David is an active member of numerous national, state and local bar committees. He has twice served as vice chair of The Missouri Bar Patent and Trademark Committee and was instrumental in drafting the model state trademark statute for Missouri.
