Bob's practice focuses on the defense and prosecution of multi-party and class action lawsuits. These representations have been located in multiple jurisdictions, concerning clients in diverse businesses and involving a wide variety of substantive law claims. During his tenure with the firm, Bob initiated the firm's employment litigation and environmental law practice areas, chaired the firm's litigation department and served as managing partner of the firm. He is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation.

Representative Experience

Prosecution of CERCLA contribution claims against parties responsible for polluting over 3800 acres of urban groundwater, resulting in recoveries from all responsible parties through settlements, trial or arbitration. City of Wichita v. Apco Liquidating Trust, Case No. 98-1360 MLB (D. Kan.) (Trial decision 2003); City of Wichita v. The Coleman Company (Arbitration Award 2004)
Defense of computer manufacturer in a putative national class action involving allegations of misrepresentation, breach of contract and consumer protection act violation. Class certification denied (2003), summary judgment on all counts (2004). Fields v. Compaq Computer Corp., Case No. CJ-2002-1772-61 (Okla. 2002)
Defense of an employer in a putative national class action involving claims of employment race discrimination, resulting in denial of class certification. Murray v. Rent-A-Center, Inc., Case No. 00-0573-CV-W-4, Order May 31, 2001 (USDC, W.D. Mo. 2001)
On behalf of a former subsidiary, imposing direct CERCLA arranger liability against former parent corporations and the individual sole shareholder. Allied Products Corporation v. TIC Investment and Stratton Georgoulis, 68 F.3d 1082 (8th Cir.), cert. denied, 117 S. Ct. 50 (1996)
Prosecution of a CERCLA response cost recovery/contribution action on behalf of the operator of a municipal landfill against industrial generators, resulting in settlement recoveries from all defendants. Defense of class action RICO, fraud and breach of contract claims for non-payment of commissions to a putative class of telemarketers. Smith v. MCI Telecommunications Corp., Case No. 87-2110 (USDC, D. Kan. 1987)
