Allen has more than 30 years experience counseling business clients and currently serves as co-chair of Stinson Morrison Hecker's Real Estate Division.
In the area of real estate, Allen represents investors and developers who are engaged in commercial, residential, multi-family and commercial development. He also has extensive experience representing lenders, documenting loans and structuring workouts.
He also counsels small and medium-sized closely-held businesses. Allen often serves as “general counsel” for his clients, coordinating various matters including formation, acquisitions, contracts, real estate, lending, employment law and litigation, often coordinating efforts with attorneys with other specializations.
Allen also represents owners and managers of closely held businesses in business succession and estate planning matters working with them on such issues as buy-sell agreements, buying and selling businesses, employment contracts, personnel and other issues. He counsels clients on selecting entities and the income tax consequences of transactions they undertake.
Allen is active in health care law, working with physicians in matters of employment, regulatory issues and other general issues affecting medical practice.
Allen is able to use his skills in business law, tax training and real estate, to guide clients in acquisitions and sales that involve complex asset and real estate transactions. He has also assisted lenders in structuring financing for complex transactions. Because he has represented buyers, sellers, borrowers and lenders, he is able to understand the needs of all the parties to a transaction. This enables him to assist his clients to work through the difficult task of negotiations and closing a complex transaction.
